Planning The Perfect Barn Wedding
Planning a wedding is no different than producing a movie. For our newlyweds Emily & Kevin, this couldn’t be any further from the truth! Kevin & Emily met while attending film school in NYC. They live in Queens, NY where they are both very successful cinematographers producing shows and movies that have made it to your living room television. While scouting locations for their dream wedding destination, Kevin & Emily ventured to Upstate NY along the Hudson River to find their perfect pictureesque wedding location at the Owls Hoot Barn in Coxsackie, NY. While scouting for their cast (Wedding Party) has already been checked off, Emily & Kevin needed to recruit some crew members (Wedding Vendors) to bring the production to life. With very particular sound requirements and musical tastes, Kevin & Emily just knew that they had found the perfect Wedding DJ when they reached out to SoundFormula Entertainment to handle their requests and to keep the dance party on their feet until the very end. With a small batch of the best wedding professionals from the Albany area and Hudson Valley area including Jesse Turnquist from Turnquist Photography (http://www.turnquistphotography.com), Hudson Valley BBQ Co. (http://www.hudsonvalleybbqco.com) and SoundFormula Entertainment (http://www.DJMikeNapoli.com), Emily and Kevin were in great hands to have the best Upstate New York Wedding Reception!!
The Fun Wedding Reception
The day of Kevin & Emily’s Wedding was perfect! The sun was shining and the weather was as beautiful as their onsite ceremony. Down the hill, over a small wooden bridge and through the pergola sat the cutest little grassy, shady ceremony site. Emily’s uncle complimented the serene surroundings on his guitar with some acoustic music arrangements that he played throughout the ceremony.
After the ceremony, everyone was lead back to the outdoor cocktail hour where SoundFormula played the likes of Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble in the background. Guests were treated to yard games, hor d’oerves by Hudson Valley BBQ Co. and deliciously mixed drinks and locally brewed beer by Cask & Rasher (http://www.CaskandRasher.com).
Aside from the ceremony, of course the Reception is the big event! Inside the barn were rustic chic and floral decorations arranged by Emily’s dad including an awesome log carved with a heart with Emily & Kevin’s initials and wedding date. The centerpieces were buckets of wood Jenga like blocks used to write funny thoughts or notes to the Bride & Groom as a keepsake from their wedding day. The theme throughout the earlier part of the wedding was 60’s and 70’s Rock. Kevin and & Emily opted to not introduce a wedding party into the reception. They were introduced to the popular Blues Brothers Song “Everybody Needs Somebody”. They danced to the Led Zepplin’s “Thank You” for their first dance and followed up with toasts by their siblings. Emily’s Sister Lauren wrapped up the toasts with a choreographed dance that she put together with her friend to Bill Medley and Jennifer Warne’s “I’ve Had The Time Of My Life”. Parent dances were put off until after dinner that was catered by Hudson Valley BBQ Co. Emily chose to dance to Tim McGraw’s “Humble & Kind” with her dad for the Father Daughter dance followed up by Kevin dancing with his mom to “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd for their Mother Son Dance.
Wedding Dance Floor
Together with Kevin & Emily’s music preferences and Mike’s undeniably talents of reading the dance floor and blending songs of multiple genres together, the dance floor barn was literally shaking with heavy feet dancing to the beat of the music all night long! Guests of every age and from varying geographic locations came together for Emily and Kevin on the dance floor to sing and dance to their favorite songs ranging from oldies, rock, 80’s and 90’s pop, oldskool hiphop, current top 40’s and some creative twists and turns and live mashups sprinkled in to keep things interesting.
Emily & Kevin Said:
5 Star Review
“Mike was the absolute BEST! Leading up to the wedding he was always quick to respond to emails/phone calls. On our wedding day, he showed up promptly, all smiles and super excited. He did sound checks with my husband to make sure the sound levels were perfect for all the different parts of the night. His music library is also superb. The Thursday before our wedding, I added a few more requests and he came through! During our wedding, we had some schedule issues but Mike always made sure to come to us first and see that we were okay with how things had to be rearranged for the night. This guy rolls with the punches like a true professional and throws a hell of a dance party!! We cannot thank you enough for being so awesome and laid back on our day!!”
